waters family: Hooray for Hollywood!

There has been a lot of exam pressure in our house lately. Last week George sat his GCSE music and GCSE faith?and ethics exams, Sam had year 6 SATs, George and Peter both sat the Seminary Old Testament scripture mastery test and this week Peter sits his GCSE English Literature exam!
Sam's primary school did their best to alleviate any pressure that the year sixes might be feeling during SATs week. The children were exempted from homework and letters were sent home to parents instructing them to give their children plenty of opportunities to relax (what else do they do at home at age 10/11?).
At school?the year sixes played games outside (or?board games inside if it was wet), watched DVDs or just sat around chatting when not actually taking?tests. Before each test they were given chocolate to boost their energy and on Friday when all the tests were completed they had an end of SATs party!
The party had a 'Hollywood' theme and all the children were supposed to dress as they would for a night at the Oscars. Unfortunately Sam does not own a tuxedo but he did look rather smart in his shirt, tie and waistcoat.
At the party there was the usual food and music but there was also an awards ceremony. Sam received an award for 'sportsmanship' and he gave a one-line acceptance speech: 'I like playing football'. I think that the week was a very positive introduction to the sitting of formal exams.
