Kennedy compares election to father's win in 1960

(AP) ? Caroline Kennedy says the re-election of President Barack Obama is just as important to the future of the country as the 1960 election of her father, John F. Kennedy.

Kennedy tells the Democratic National Convention that Obama shares the ideals of her father and her uncles, such as social justice, economic fairness and equal opportunity. The election, she says, is about whether those ideals will be advanced or swept away.

She says the election is particularly important to women and children, and that now is not the time to roll back women's rights that were being won when JFK was president.

Kennedy says that despite warnings that it was not good politics, Obama listened to the late Sen. Edward Kennedy and staked his presidency on health care reform.
