Local Businesses Leading in Advertising Innovation ...

The following is a story put together for us by a local student. What do you think?

A full service automotive center, and a BBQ joint and a massage therapist might not have common business models, but these local businesses are leading the charge in adopting innovative new advertising models. Whether you believe the economy is on its way up, down, or sideways, the rise of popular discount services like Groupon, Living Social and all the local knockoffs prove that consumers love good deals. In fact, almost half of all internet users will utilize search online for deals in 2012. The challenge is that a lot of times these loss-leaders turn into just plain losses for the business and can cause a host of other problems including increased negative reviews, daily deal fatigue, and alienation of regular customers.? With all these well documented negatives and all the positives associated with well-run deals and offers, you know there has to be a business model that actually works for businesses and consumers. Enter a couple of guys from Arkansas.

Arkansas has a strong history of business model innovations and driving down costs with Sam Walton reinventing retail, Johnnie Bryant Hunt redefining transportation logistics, and John Tyson completely changing the protein and food service industry. While these big three are often cited for all number of great things in Arkansas, the tradition of business model innovation has continued with groups like Accumen Brands in e-commerce and TTAGG in stock market analysis. It is only natural that this tradition would continue in the area of location-based out of home advertising. And this is where myDealCompass, an Arkansas based startup enters the picture.

myDealCompass is a new location-based platform for businesses of all size to take control of their own digital coupons, daily deals and so much more. ?We talked to a lot of merchants before getting started and set about solving the problems that they identified,? says Justin Cleveland a Founder of myDealCompass. He continues, ?The goal is to get new customers through a businesses? doors, we want to facilitate a long term relationship between your business and your customers. We combine incentive based advertising on a location aware platform with search engine optimization in a truly new way.? Early feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive.

Kent Rylee Automotive Solutions has been serving the Northwest Arkansas community and beyond for over 30 years. They have tried a lot of different advertising routes and they can be found on myDealCompass for one simple reason. ?We are always looking for new ways to engage the local community and myDealCompass allows us to do just that,? said Advertising Manager Stephanie Orman. ?Our annual car show is coming up on April 14th and we can update our deal and information in response to what is happening at the event in real-time.?

The most up-to-date deals for Fayetteville based BBQ startup Buck Nekkid BBQ that specializes in dry rubbed meats can also be found using myDealCompass. ?The service is so versatile and we can direct people to specific products and offer different deals every single day, or multiple in a single day, if we want,? said owner Macy Brooks. ?If we want to offer 50% off our food, we can do it on our terms without sharing revenue and customers pay us directly.? Buck Nekkid Hosts a ton of events for the local community which can be found on Facebook, Twitter, and of course myDealCompass.

Jodie Karow is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet and the owner of Pure Solace Body Boutique in Fayetteville. Jodie?s passion for providing a great experience is evident from the first time you meet and she has a focus on providing clients with an escape from the craziness of everyday life. Early on, Jodie tried a local daily deal provider but found the extreme discount & necessary split on revenue to be taxing for her business. ?The deal was oversold and I ended up making less than the daily deal provider and having to cover all the appointments over the next nine months,? said Jodie. Now you can always find deals on the latest service by Pure Solace on myDealCompass and know that your purchase price goes completely to Jodie.

The businesses you can find on myDealCompass are diverse but they all share a common goal; engaging the local community though the latest in location based advertising. It just so happens that this breakthrough new advertising platform was also developed right here in Arkansas and continues to keep up the trend of business model innovation that has created so many jobs for the state.
